AIF present
latest work at height developments to Crossrail contractors

Crossrail invited AIF (Access
Industry Forum) to present updates on work at height issues at their
Contractors Forum in October 2011. Crossrail’s intention is to deliver
‘world class’ standards at every stage of the project and working at
height safety is fundamental to this objective.
Representatives from AIF covered
issues including:
- Ladder selection and appropriate
use
- Latest developments in mobile
access tower and low level access technology and standards
- Best practice for working in MEWPS
in confined spaces
- Safety Net installation and
testing protocol
- Scaffolding assembly in accordance
with SG4:10
- Industry recommendations on
scaffolding inspection
- Latest developments in edge
protection technology
- Safe and correct use for suspended
access equipment during the construction process
- Fall arrest and personal fall
protection equipment
AIF also discussed some of their
industry collaborative initiatives with the Contractors and how
Crossrail and AIF may continue to work closely together in the future
to maintain ‘world class’ excellence.
